It was ‘standing room only’ at the annual Carol Service held in the Garden of Remembrance at 6pm on Saturday 22nd December 2018. The service was conducted by Fr Bruce Batstone ably assisted by Curate Anna Stuttard and Pastoral Assistant Lucy Emmanuel with the singing led by the Tower Singers. Thanks are due to Chris Arnold of Creative Orchestra for helping to publicise the event and also providing the excellent lighting and sound systems. The attendance at this year’s Carol Service was the highest anyone could remember, possibly as many as 300, and consequently the collection during the service raised an amazing £401 (more than double the 2017 total) which will help towards the upkeep of the Tower and Churchyard. As was the case last year, the service was blessed with dry conditions with candles adding to the festive atmosphere. The service was followed by the traditional mulled wine and excellent mince pies prepared by The Friends together with additional refreshments from the Church.
